Custom Indy Figures – Marcus Brody and Satipo

Here’s a showcase of another two of my awesome custom Indiana Jones figures:
.
Marcus Brody from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”:
.
In “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, Marcus joins Indy in the search for the Holy Grail and rescuing Indy’s Dad. Marcus had first appeared in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.
.
Recipe:
Head – Anakin Skywalker (“Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi”)
Torso – Indiana Jones (“Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”)
Arms and jacket –  Dr. Henry Jones (“Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”)
Legs – René Belloq (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”)
Boots – Indiana Jones
.
Many on the Indiana Jones discussion board have commented that the old Anakin Skywalker’s head closely resembles Marcus Brody.  So I decided to get one for customising Marcus Brody, transplanting Anakin’s head onto Indy’s torso. TLC Indy wears a tie, while TLC Henry Jones comes with a suit jacket, which makes these two very useful custom fodders for figures that wear suit and tie. In TLC, Marcus’ suit appears white under the sun, but on close-ups Marcus’ suit can be seen to be grey in colour.

One thing that doesn’t match-up is the lack of white line patterns on Marcus’ tie. I do not feel confident enough of painting such fine line patterns, so I’ll leave it as such.

I’ve finally gotten around to paint the stripes on Brody’s tie, and also added a handkerchief in his chest pocket. Previously, Brody’s head and neck were in one piece and were simply pasted onto the torso, with no articulation whatsoever. This seemed rather crude, so I decided to reattach the original neck and instead dremel hollow the head, such that Brody’s head can now swivel. I’ve also restored the original Last Crusade Indy’s legs so that Brody now has more leg articulation.
.
Satipo from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”:
.
Satipo served as Indy’s assistant during the search for the Chachapoyan fertility idol at the beginning of ROTLA, that is, until the temple starts to fall apart, and Satipo steals the idol for himself. Satipo’s fortunes didn’t last long, as he gets skewered by the temple’s booby trap, and Indy takes back the idol.
.
Recipe:
Head – A generic Clone Trooper from Star Wars
Torso – Monkey Man (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”)
Arms, legs and jacket – Cemetary Warrior (“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”)
.
The clone trooper’s head is said to be representative of generic non-caucasian characters, and it also bore a strong resemblance to Satipo. I used Monkey Man’s torso as it already wears a singlet. I used epoxy glue to sculpt a bit of the torn singlet. The jacket needed to be slit open at the front to resemble Satipo’s jacket.
.

Satipo is another one of the five canceled Hasbro Indy figures.
.
Satipo’s actual jacket looks more like a suit jacket with its lapels and pockets. But I figured that it looks so torn and tattered anyway that nobody would notice the difference. And I am quite certain that Satipo doesn’t wear a belt onscreen. I haven’t got around to making the backpack for Satipo to carry.

I had acquired a plastic cast head of the Satipo prototype figure, to replace the original head (which belonged to a Star Wars Clone trooper). Additional lapels, shoulder straps, and pockets were sculpted onto the jacket, and the jacket had been repainted from yellow-green to buff.
