Custom MCU Figure – Katy (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”)

Hello world! I have made a custom MCU Katy from the “Shang-Chi” film, and here’s the showcase !

Katy Chen is Shang-Chi’s loyal friend and ally. The two had first met in high school, and later on they lived in San Francisco where they worked in valet parking together. However, after both of them were attacked by Ten Rings terrorists, one of whom had a machete for his arm, Shang-Chi revealed to Katy that he was the son of the leader of the Ten Rings. When Katy learns than Shang-Chi had to leave to investigate the reasons for the attacks upon him, she insisted on traveling together with Shang-Chi, offering her help and resolute in that her best friend will not be facing his troubles alone.

Recipe:
Head – Resistance Gunner Paige Tico from “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi”
Hair – Transplanted from the cast head of generic anime long hair girl bought off eBay
Torso with arms – Purchased from Marauder Task Force
Legs – Marion Ravenwood from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
Skirt – Mola Ram from “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”
Bow and quiver – Tauriel from “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”

Custom MCU Katy is based on her appearance during the final battle in the film. The original idea was to simply use the cast head of a generic anime long hair girl for the custom, but I felt that the anime head looked too cartoonish. No one online was selling the cast head of Awkwafina, so I decided to use the head of Paige Tico as I thought she had the best resemblance to MCU Katy. The torso, legs and skirt were essentially glued together using epoxy into one piece such that there is no waist articulation and leg articulation is limited. Epoxy was also used to sculpt the lapels and the top of the belt. The hair was slightly trimmed so that it did not get in the way of the quiver.

Meeting the court jester.

Confronting the Ten Rings.

Picking up a new skill, and becoming very good at it.

That was easy…

“Welcome to the circus.”
